MADONNA KICKS OFF ā€œMDNAā€ WORLD TOUR IN ISRAEL TO RAUCOUS FANS

JERUSALEM ā€”  Pop music star Madonna treated tens of thousands of ecstatic fans in Israel to the inaugural show of her ā€œMDNAā€ world tour on Thursday, performing in a country where she has long claimed a special bond. The ā€œMaterial Girl,ā€ a devotee of a form of Jewish mysticism known as Kabbalah, danced, bumped, grinded and vogued in flashy costumes to a raucous crowd at Ramat Gan stadium near Tel Aviv. Madonna emerged on stage in a confessional, breaking through its glass window using a rifle, which she then aimed at the audience. She wore a skin-tight black outfit to sing her first song, ā€œGirl Gone Wild,ā€ accompanied by dancers dressed as monks. She went on to sing ā€œGive Me All Your Luvinā€™ā€ and a mash-up of the classic ā€œExpress Yourselfā€ and Lady Gagaā€™s ā€œBorn This Way,ā€ dressed as a marching band conductor. Madonnaā€™s diva rivalry with Lady Gaga may be taken up a notch when her MDNA tour kicks off Thursday at Tel Aviv,

Israelā€™s Ramat Gan Stadium. In new rehearsal footage, the 53-year-old legend is seen singing a mashup of her ā€œExpress Yoursel fā€ and Gagaā€™s ā€œBorn This Wayā€ that concludes with a few lines from Madonnaā€™s copycat-shaming ā€œSheā€™s Not Me.ā€ Last year, when Lady Gaga released her hit single ā€œBorn This Way,ā€ controversy erupted over the songā€™s similarity to Madonnaā€™s ā€œExpress Yourself.ā€ (Never mind that much of the resemblance is rooted in both songsā€™ use of a pretty common disco chord progression.) At first, things seemed cool between the two singers. Theyā€™d always gotten along publicly, and Gaga told Jay Leno that Mā€™s camp reached out to say all was well in the diva-verse with regard to the songsā€™ similarities (something later denied by Madonnaā€™s people).
