Madonna shows her support for the French with Le Coq cap as she exits The Kabbalah Centre in New York City
It seems Madonna was trying to mend fences with her French fans as she stepped out in New York City on Saturday.
The 56-year-old sported a baseball cap featuring Le Coq Gaulois, which is one of the national emblems of France.
This
comes after the Revolution of Love singer caused controversy by using
hashtags to promote her album in a social media post about the recent
terrorist attacks in Paris.

Madonna
caused quite a controversy on Wednesday when she shared a photo on her
Instagram account which read: 'Je Suis Charlie (I am Charlie).'
However,
what caused issue was her caption: 'These are very scary times we are
living in. Ignorance breeds Intolerance and fear. We can only fight
darkness with light! We are all Charlie! #revolutionoflove [heart]
#rebelhearts'
Revolution Of Love is a track off her album Rebel Hearts, both of which she used as hashtags at the end of her post.
Controversy: Many were upset when
Madonna shared this post, along with captions pertaining to her new
album, '#revolutionoflove' and '#rebelhearts'
Following
the post, many online commentators accused Madonna of using the recent
terrorist massacre, in which 12 people were killed in the gun attack on
French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo's Paris offices, to promote her
album Rebel Heart.
Bustle's Maitri
Mehta wrote: 'Madonna has been aggressive in the promotion for her new
album, but I am surprised that she didn't realize — or no one advised
her — that in the wake of such a senseless attack, self-promotion is
definitely prohibited.'
However,
despite negative responses, Madonna has continued to heavily promote
her album, posting a photo of Elvis Presley the following day, altered
to look like her image on her new album.
Making amends: The design on Madonna's hat is one of the national emblem's of France
Two
days later the performer was spotted in New York wearing a hat
emblazoned with an emblem of France, as she left The Kabbalah Centre.
In
addition to her statement-making hat, Madonna bundled up in a long
black leather jacket, with a fur-lined hood, which the performer pulled
up around her face as she walked.
She also wore baggy maroon trousers, and a pair of black and white sneakers while out in the cold New York weather.
The singer hid her eyes behind a pair of sunglasses, and sported a pair of fingerless black leather gloves.
Resolute: Despite all of the controversy surrounding her actions, Madonna continues to promote her album on Instagram
