Madonna is the face of Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 09 fashion campaign.The pop star was photographed by Steven Meisel.

« I wanted the campaign to be very bold, very sensual and very atmospheric. To carry off all these references and all this sophistication, we needed the ultimate performer and for me, that is Madonna  » said Marc Jacobs.

She was photographed in Café Figaro from Los Angeles by Steven Meisel, styled by Marie Amelie Sauve (working as a fashion editor for Vogue Paris and as a consultant for Balenciaga) and Garren (for the hair)

She was signed as the face of the luxury brand's spring/summer 2009 collection in what the company called an "amazing coup".

Antoine Arnault, Louis Vuitton's communications director, said: "Madonna is glamorous. She has a global image. She's the ultimate performer and businesswoman, and not someone who is just a famous singer. She has travelled. She has tried to change things."

Marc Jacobs, the label's creative director, came up with the idea of casting Madonna after seeing her perform at a concert in Paris.
