Madonna: Proud Presenter at Sound of Change Live Concert

From Material Girl to mother-of-four,  Madonna  stepped up for women at  The Sound of Change Live  concert at Twickenham Stadium in the United Kingdom on Saturday (June 1). Serving as a presenter this evening, the "Like a Prayer" singer said in a statement, "sixty percent of the children in the world NOT in school are girls. Two-thirds of the world's illiterate are women. I do not accept this. We need to change this and we will change this." Twickenham Stadium will be replete with famous folks as they all come together to raise awareness and funding for girls’ and women’s empowerment issues around the globe. Celebrities also slated to attend include Jessica Chastain, Freida Pinto, Zoe Saldana, James Franco, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Salma Hayek, and Beyonce Knowles. Madonna pledges funds for campaign to expand school in Karachi

PHOTO: MADONNA FACEBOOK PAGE KARACHI:  Celebrity and social activist Madonna announced on Saturday that she is raising money to expand a school in an impoverished area on the outskirts of Karachi, according to a  press release  on her official website. On Saturday, Madonna went on stage at a live concert in London and publicised that she is supporting girls’ education in Pakistan through her Ray of Light Foundation, and urged people to support her cause.  She was joined on stage by Humaira Bachal, an education activist from Karachi. The concert had been organised the charity organisation Chime For Change that campaigns for education for women and girls. A  webpage  was simultaneously launched on crowd-funding platform Catapult to raise money for the addition of an extra floor at a school in Karachi. Madonna "Secret Project" To Include Powerful New Music and Video

This morning, MTV talked about what is known in the Madonna camp as the “Secret Project.”The civil rights project was supposed to be unveiled a couple weeks back, but Madonna has delayed it. According to MTV and CNN, the project involves Steven Klein, a new song, a new video, and a call to action by her fans. Madonna shot the video for her secret project last December and recorded a new song that deals with feminist power earlier this year. The name of the song was tentatively titled “Back of the Bus,” but that could change in the final version. It is said to be one of the most powerful ballads Madonna has haver come up with. It compares the struggle women face around the world with the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s. Madonna has always been an outspoken advocate for women’s rights as well as gay rights.
