1989 April 5th Pepsi-Cola Canada announces it will continue to broadcast Madonna's commercial in spite of "Like A Prayer" video controversy.

"The Madonna/Pepsi Controversy"     It is January of 1989, and the highly popular Madonna has recorded a new album that is a mixture of personalized ballads and celebratory dance tunes. So where's the controversy? She wrote a song about her divorce, the death of her mom, and the fact that she still doesn't see eye-to-eye with her dad. Big deal. Where's the scandal? Here's where the plot begins to thicken. In the past five years the two top soda pop manufacturers, Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola, had learned that an effective way to reach the youth of America and the rest of the world was to sign sizzling hot recording stars to do television commercials publicizing the cola of their choice. Madonn'a hit songs and videos had been about love, devotion, and searching for the latest party. She ought to make an excellent spokesperson to

“SECRET” VIDEO ‘MAKING OF’ FAN PICTURES IN HARLEM

The music video for “Secret” was directed by photographer Melodie McDaniel, who previously had gained acclaim as a photographer for album artwork. It was filmed on September 9, 10, 11, 1994 at the Lenox Lounge and on location on Lenox Avenue in Harlem, New York. The video is filmed in lush photographic black and white and begins with Madonna singing in a club. As the song progresses, Madonna walks down a street, while images of people along the street are shown. At the climax of the video, Madonna reaches her home to her love interest (played by model Jason Olive) and his young son. Throughout the video, scenes of Madonna are interspersed with scenes of transvestites primping, and religious iconography such as rebirth and damnation. Here some fan pictures from the backstage in Harlem.

Hours later, as the shoot at 440 W. 15th St. wrapped up just after midnight, a staffer noticed the bag had disappeared, police said. “It was a Madonna shoot for L’uomo Mag and It would be ideal is if [sic] someone found the bag of lingerie,” a spokesperson for the company wrote in an email. “Deborah would love to get her collection pieces returned.” Madonna posted photos from the shoot to her Instagram account, identifying some of the clothes as Armani. “Working Armani For.
