Madonna’s Statement Following Her Detroit Visit

Madonna visited Detroit yesterday in an effort to participate in the rebuilding of the city and to connect with her hometown. During her visit, she spent time at the Detroit Achievement Academy – a public charter primary school, Ponyride – a social impact incubator, the Heidelberg Project, the Downtown Youth Boxing Gym and the Dime Music School. She released the following statement following her visit: Many people doubt that Detroit can come back and think that the challenges are too overwhelming to overcome. But what I witnessed today is the true story of Detroit – a city of innovation, commitment, perseverance, imagination and opportunity. The entrepreneurs, artists, activists, teachers and children I met today left me incredibly inspired. I appreciated every minute of it and look forward to helping make the future of Detroit brighter.

In 1992 Madonna starred in A League Of Their Own as Mae Mordabito. She also wrote the ballad This Used To Be My Playground for the film, though it wasn't included in the soundtrack, because of record company conflicts. Instead it featured on Barcelona Gold , an Olympics charity collection, and in 1995 it was added to Something To Remember . Hence the many versions of the song: the movie version (only used in the closing credits), a long version that was featured on the single, and the (short) single version, that also appeared on Something To Remember . The version on Barcelona Gold is even shorter than the single version. The single was a chart-topper in the summer of 1992, holding the #1 position in the US (her 10th US #1 hit

Read The Documents “Defendants’ actions have caused and will cause Hard Candy, LLC irreparable harm for which money damages and other legal remedies are inadequate,” federal court papers state. “Unless Defendants are restrained by this Court, Defendants will continue and/or expand the improper activities alleged in this Complaint and otherwise continue to cause great and irreparable harm and injury to Hard Candy, LLC.” Though Hard Candy is also suing Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, they
