"Everybody" was followed by the double-sided single "Burning Up"/"Physical Attraction," a No. 3 hit on Dance/Club Play Songs in spring 1983. (It was common then for singles to be promoted as so-called "double-sided" singles, when a vinyl record would be sent to club DJs with a different song on each side.)  Don't put me off 'cause I'm on fire And I can't quench my desire Don't you know that I'm burning up for your love You're not convinced that that is enough I put myself in this position And I deserve the imposition But you don't even know I'm alive And this pounding in my heart just won't die I'm burning up I'm burning up, burning up for your love I'm burning up, burning up for your love I'm burning up, burning up for your love For your love You're always closing your door Well that only makes me want you more And day and night I cry for your love You're not convinced th...

May 19, 1995 // Madonna's "Human Nature" music video premiered on MTV.

The music video premiered on May 19, 1995 through  MTV . It features Madonna, her dancers, and her chihuahua, Chiquita, in black leather and latex outfits. Madonna's look and outfit for this video is "latex and leather" to symbolize the "breaking out of the restraints". Her hair, which appears brown in the video was actually blonde at the time. She had leather strips painstakingly braided into her hair to blend with her dark roots. The frizzy afro she sports halfway through the video was actually a hairpiece. As the video concludes there is a shot of Madonna sitting in a chair, looking straight into the camera as she says the line "Absolutely no regrets!". Then there is a brief shot of her standing next to the chair as she boxes into the air. Louis Virtel from The Backlot ranked the video at number 22 on a list for "Madonna's 22 Best Videos, In Honor of Her 55th Birthday", and called the video " tongue-in-cheek , pleather-he...

May 19 1990, "Vogue" Hot 100 Peak Position: 1 (three weeks)

Lyrically, the song is about enjoying oneself on the dance floor no matter who one is, and it contains a theme of  escapism . Critically, "Vogue" has been met with appreciation ever since its release; reviewers have praised its anthemic nature and listed it as one of the singer's career highlights. Commercially, the song remains one of Madonna's biggest international hits, topping the charts in over 30 countries, including Australia, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It became the world's best-selling single of 1990, selling over six million copies. The music video for "Vogue", directed by  David Fincher , was shot in  black-and-white  and takes stylistic inspiration from the 1920s and 1930s. Madonna and her dancers can be seen  voguing  to different choreographed moves. Critics noted the way in which Madonna used her  postmodern  influence to expose an underground subcultural movement to the masses. The video ...

MADONNA INTERVIEW : RECORD MIRROR (MAY 19 1984)

Clubland morns! Hang on to your hats, nightpeople – Doyenne of post-midnight dance developments, Madonna, has some bad news. The brand new Queen of disco, only recently elevated to that heady throne, is set to abdicate – about to desert her home from home – and break a million hearts en route… “I’m not going to blubs half as much as I used to. I like to get to bed early now – I don’t want to stay up and party.” Whaaat? No more intoxicating choreographed delight? No more sensuous swaying till dawn? No more regal demonstrations at the Funhouse? “No! All that music like Freeez – Yuk! It doesn’t have any feeling and that’s all they play at the Funhouse. It’s all Jellybean (Madonna’s sometime paramour) ever plays – he decides, he gives the crowd their taste. I used to like it at the Funhouse but I don’t go there anymore – it’s too much too commercial. All that electro stuff gets on my nerves – it doesn’t have any longevity, it won’t be remembered.” Wha...
