APRIL 17, 2001: "What It Feels Like for a Girl" from Madonna''s eighth studio album "Music" was released.

" What It Feels Like for a Girl " is a song by  Madonna , taken from her eighth studio album  Music   (2000). The song was released as the third single from the album on April 17, 2001 by  Maverick Records , with two other versions being also released: a  dance -remix produced by  A bove & Beyond  and a Spanish version titled "Lo Que Siente La Mujer". "What It Feels Like For a Girl" was written by Madonna and  Guy Sigsworth , while production was done by Madonna, Sigsworth, and  Mark "Spike" Stent .  David Torn  was included as an additional composer to the track, after Madonna found out Sigsworth had sampled Torn's  Cloud About Mercury  album. The song is set in the  key  of  Eb major , with Madonna's vocals spanning from the lower octave of  G3  to the higher note of  Bb4 note . Jose F.      "Have you ever seen animals make love Frank? It's intense!" Synopsis A millionaire is found dead of heart failure handcuffed to the bed with a home video tape of him and his lover. When cocaine is found in his system, and his will leaves $8 million to his lover, they arrest her on suspicion of murder. Her lawyer succumbs to her charms, and he begins a torrid and kinky affair with her. As new evidence turns up during trial, he begins to wonder if he's defending a murderer. (source:  IMDB ) Rating Critics were very harsh for Madonna's performance in this movie. And yes, there are indeed some scenes which aren't exactly great acting. The film tried to steal some of the success of Basic Instinct, but giving it a different approach with the S&M aspect. In her defence, she seemed confident in this role.   Madonna - American Life - Exclusive First Look - Video The video begins with several male and female models dressed up as soldiers on a fashion runway, wearing military garb and gas masks with one male model sports a shirt that reads "Fashion Victim" while it is inter-cut with scenes of Madonna singing in front of a black background.  In the second chorus, middle-eastern children are seen walking on the runway, and being bullied by the soldier models.  During the bridge, Madonna and her group prepare to enter the runway in a restroom, while she carves "Protect Me" on the partition of a stall and dances angrily with them to the song. The women also are seen dancing in front of surveillance cameras. April 15 1989, "Like A Prayer" topped the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart

In the United States, "Like a Prayer" debuted at number 38 on the  Billboard  Hot 100 ,  and reached the top of the chart on the issue dated April 22, 1989.   It was number one for three weeks, before being replaced by the  Bon Jovi  song " I'll Be There for You ".   "Like a Prayer" also topped the  Hot Dance Music/Club Play  chart,    while reaching number three on the  Hot Adult Contemporary  chart   and number 20 on the  Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs  chart.   "Like a Prayer" was ranked at number 25 on the Hot 100 year-end chart of 1989, and was certified  platinum  by the  Recording Industry Association of America  (RIAA) in May 1989, for shipment of a million copies of the single.    According to  Nielsen SoundScan , it has also sold 443,000  digital downloads  as of April 2010, becoming Madonna's best-selling digital track since SoundScan start...

"One More Chance" entered the  UK Singles Chart  at number 11 on March 23, 1996.  It dropped to number 29 in its second week and stayed on the top 100 for four weeks.  According to the  Official Charts Company , the single had sold 56,851 copies in the United Kingdom as of August 2008.  In Australia, the song debuted at number 43 on the  ARIA Singles Chart  on March 24, 1996. It peaked at number 35 on the chart and stayed within the top 50 for five weeks.  In Italy, "One More Chance" debuted at number ten on the  FIMI Singles Chart  on April 6, 1996.  The next week, the single reached a peak of number two on the chart, staying there for one week before descending down the chart.  "One More Chance" was the 77th best-selling single of the year in Italy.  In Finland, "One More Chance" entered the singles chart at number 14 in the 13th week of 1996. It appeared on the chart for four weeks with peak position at number 12....

Not only does the  timeless diva  now have a  Jean Paul Gaultier Diet Coke bottle designed in her likeness  to celebrate, she’s also got the launch of her new  Truth Or Dare fragrance line   to focus on. The pop icon arrived at Macy’s Herald Square on Thursday night (Apr. 12) looking absolutely flawless in her black Dolce & Gabbana dress as she met and greeted the lucky first 200 customers.

 In April 2003, Madonna discussed her motivations behind "American Life" with  VH1  while talking about her experience in the music industry. She stated "I look back at the 20 years behind me and I realized that a lot of things that I'd valued weren't important", in response to the non-materialistic themes of the record. Discussing the album, Madonna said about "American Life": "[The song] was like a trip down memory lane, looking back at everything I've accomplished and all the things I once valued and all the things that were important to me. What is my perspective now? I've fought for so many things, I've tried so hard to be number one and to stay on top, to look good, to be the best. And I realized that a lot of things that last and the things that matter are none of those things."
