On May 29, 1990 // Madonna Was Nearly Arrested for Simulating Masturbation.

Anyone who's watched  Madonna 's revealing 1991 documentary  Truth or Dare  remembers the unforgettable scene where Madge, despite warnings of arrest from local police, simulates masturbation while singing "Like a Virgin" on her Blond Ambition Tour. Today, we celebrate the 26th anniversary of that unusual Canadian controversy. On May 29, 1990, Madonna was preparing to take the stage for the third night at Toronto's SkyDome on her Blond Ambition Tour. Right around that time, her crew received a visit from officers who threatened to arrest the Queen of Pop for her salacious onstage simulation. Christopher Ciccone, who was assisting his sister on tour at the time, relayed the message to Madonna, explaining "a representative from the D.A.'s office" was worried about her "immoral live performance." Her response? "I’m not changing my fucking show." While the incident understandably seems absurd now, it's fair to point o

May 28, 2008 // Court approves Madonna adoption of baby David Banda.

Malawi's high court today granted Madonna permanent custody of baby David Banda. Confirming the news outside the courthouse in the capital Lilongwe this afternoon, the star’s lawyer Alan Chinula said: "It's a beautiful and positive judgement." "Finally the court has granted Madonna full adoption rights of the boy ... It's all over, thank God." Three-year-old David has lived with Madonna and her film director husband Guy Ritchie since October 2006 after they spotted him in an orphanage. David was placed into care by his father following the death of his mother when he was a month old. The father has said he didn't object to the adoption. Madonna’s custody battle has proved controversial, with critics accusing the Malawian government of ignoring laws that ban non-residents from adopting children from the country. source: http://www.mirror.co.uk/

MADONNA’S CRIME

It’s become evident that Madonna could find the cure for HIV and cancer today and there would still be people hating on her for it. But the amount of hate towards Madonna’s subtle and respectful tribute to Prince only proves one thing: she was the right  choice . I italicized the word  choice  here because I don’t think it is even appropriate to describe Madonna’s performance in honor of Prince as a  choice.  There really wasn’t much of a choice: when it comes to Pop Culture, there are only three icons: Madonna, Prince, and Michael Jackson. Two of them are dead. So Madonna wasn’t a choice. Madonna was the only option. She is the only artist who has the right to do so. And she did it brilliantly and selflessly. Say what you want about Madonna, but she is bigger and more influential than Prince ever will be - dead or alive. Just like Michal Jackson was. And to have a bigger star like Madonna honor an artist she admired is a reason to celebrate, not to attack.  If you’re one of t
