See Madonna's  daring fashion shoot  for our November issue. Terry Richardson TRUTH OR DARE? That is a catchphrase that's often associated with me. I made a documentary film with this title, and it has stuck to me like flypaper ever since. It's a fun game to play if you're in the mood to take risks, and usually I am. However, you have to play with a clever group of people. Otherwise you'll find yourself French-kissing everyone in the room or giving blow jobs to Evian bottles! PROVOCATIONS [OCTOBER 1992] Madonna in Wonderland

Sex,  Madonna’s shocking new book of erotic photos, is about to make taboo something chic for the 90s. On the eve of the controversial book’s publication, the star gave our author an advance peek and posed exclusively for  Vanity Fair and Steven Meisel. BY  MAUREEN ORTH I am not allowed to turn the pages. She turns them. As always, Madonna must be in control. “Pretend I’m not here,” the sex-for-sales matrix at the height of her power commands. Taking a break from 12-hour days in the recording studio, she is allowing me a first peek at what she hopes will be the worldwide publishing phenomenon of the year—her latest reinvention of her go-for-broke image: Pansexual Madonna, in your face hard, if not hard-core. “She has a nipple ring? She pierced her nipple?” I ask weakly about a woman in one of the first images (some of the roughest trade comes right up front). “Everything in their body is pierced,” Madonna says of her two co-stars in the first s...
