March 1, 2015 // Madonna's "Rebel Heart Tour" tour was formally announced on Madonna's official website.

The tour was formally announced on March 1, 2015 on Madonna's official website. Titled Rebel Heart Tour, it was initially scheduled to begin on August 29, 2015, from Miami and continue throughout Europe and end on December 20, 2015, in Glasgow, Scotland. According to Billboard, Rebel Heart would be an all-arena tour, and would visit cities where Madonna has not performed before. They assumed a total of 25–30 shows in North America and 20–25 shows in Europe, with additional dates being revealed later on. The tour is expected to visit Australia and Asia in early 2016, however no dates have been announced as of May 2015. It would be Madonna's first visit to Australia and Puerto Rico in over 21 years, when she last toured there with  The Girlie Show World Tour  in 1993. Rebel Heart Tour will be led by Live Nation Entertainment's Global Touring Division. It is Madonna's fifth collaboration with Live Nation, with more than $1 billion ($1.03 billion in 2015 dollars) in Bo

April 30 2006 // Madonna is the queen of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. No doubt about it.

Madonna helped Coachella set a two-day attendance record Saturday and Sunday when at least 60,000 people a day crammed into the Empire Polo Club in Indio. The demand was so great for Madonna, it took the crowd 30 minutes to inch their way across the field after her performance. Coincidentally, that was just how long her performance was. The Queen of Pop started 25 minutes after her scheduled start time, emerging out of a disco ball with her ensemble of spacemen-like dancers in a black outfit and shades. After opening with her recent dance hit,  Hung Up , which she sang to open that year's Academy Grammy Awards, she told the audience this was her first festival and 'give me some love.' Madonna, 47, then sang songs from her most recent album,  Confessions on a Dance Floor , with a throbbing, enhanced electronica beat. She played guitar on  I Love New York . Then she asked the fans - perhaps 30,000 people including beer garden patrons and indie rock fans for The Edi

April 30, 1992 // The Stolen Bustier Madonna and the L.A. riots.

A black bustier worn by Madonna in "Open Your Heart" video was stolen from Frederick's Of Hollywood's lingerie museum in Los Angeles. May (6) Frederick's Of Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA offers a $1,000 reward for the return of Madonna's bustier. On April 29, 1992, a jury acquitted four LAPD officers of beating Rodney King. The incident, which was caught on videotape, sparked a national debate about police brutality and racial inequality (more than two decades before #BlackLivesMatter). The verdict stunned the city, and what followed was four smoldering days of rioting. It feels frivolous to pivot from the riots — which left 53 dead, 2,000 injured, 11,000 arrested and a billion dollars of damage — to Madonna. And it is. But yesterday — three weeks into my little L.A. adventure — I learned of Madonna’s connection to the riots, which is important in so far as it makes for interesting dinner party fodder. In April 30th, 1992, th

28 April 2008 // Madonna's "Hard Candy" album was released in the UK. [BBC Review]

BBC Review Easy to chew, Hard Candy is everything you'd hope for from a Madonna album. Tom Young   2008 ''I know I can do it better'', boasts Madonna on She's Not Me, a gigantic disco ball of a Chic-esque tune. It's a piercing shot at any young pretenders, past, present and future, who think they've what it takes to take on the Queen of Pop in her fiftieth year, and one that reverberates across her eleventh album. Laying herself at the mercy of producers savvy enough to churn out hits in their sleep, Madonna has put her reputation on the line for Hard Candy, but it's a calculated risk, and although she could have done it better, it's still a mighty record. In essence, the album is not the hip hop tribute many had feared, but an urban extension of 2005's Confessions On A Dancefloor. The disco still rules supreme (just listen to the funk-overload of Dance 2Nite) and the dancefloor remains Madonna's sexual playground. Yet,

Visitors to  Madonna 's $6.5 million Beverly Hills mansion on a recent afternoon could stroll through and behold master-works by Picasso, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and...resident artist Lourdes Leon, age 6. Alas, Lourdes belongs to the enfant terrible school of art, which has her famous mom clenching her teeth in frustration. "My daughter spilled black paint on the bedroom rug," says a stressed  Madonna . "We're not really sure how it happened. She was left alone for two minutes, and, well, it's not pretty." So where is her husband, British film director Guy Ritchie? "He's upstairs, working on a script," she says. "I'm much more the disciplinarian of the house, although Guy is getting more involved." Then, flashing a playful grin, she adds, "I'd have to fire him as a dad if he didn't get more involved. I can't be the hard one all the time."  Madonna , looking to soften her image? Chalk it up to mo
