It was a party held in her honour so of course Madonna was going to dress up.

But no one quite expected the superstar to turn up in a suit with a top hat and a satin waistcoat.

At first onlookers thought the 54-year-old Frozen singer was embracing her inner comic by coming to the bash as Charlie Chaplin but on closer inspection it looked like Madge had opted to come as her idol, screen siren Marlene Dietrich.

With her blonde hair teased into perfect curls and her classic tuxedo with white shirt Madonna emulated her hero Marlene.

Madonna’s children Rocco and Lourdes were also at the launch of Madonna: The MDNA Tour documentary, held at the Paris Theatre in New York.

Teenager Rocco, who is the spitting image of his director father Guy Ritchie, looked like he had shot up several inches and Lourdes emulated her glamorous mother.
