Madonna successfully invented herself as a pop star and a singing icon. She has also established a name in the lifestyle business – particularly in clothing and perfume line.
Just last year, Madonna launched her first perfume line Truth or Dare. which caters to women 25-45 years old. It was in partnership with Coty company, MG Icon LLC, her manager Guy Oseary and Iconix Brand Group.
Truth or Dare represents both the darkness and light of a scent, characterized by its innocence and deceit. The bottle and packaging feature elegance and sophistication as exuded by its palette of rich gold and white.
Madonna made a follow up with Truth or Dare: Naked , December 2012. It comes with a press ad where Madonna boldly showed her naked image with only the words “Naked – a new fragrance” on her breasts.
The Queen of Pop revealed it was her mother who became her inspiration in her journey towards in creating a signature perfume line. According to her: “I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me, but that other people could relate to as well. Something classical and timeless and yet modern. My oldest memory of my mother is her perfume. I carry it with me everywhere.” Madonna has also been very passionate and is involved with her business.
Madonna raked a whopping $60 million in sales from Truth or Dare alone. She also earned $5 million from her “Material Girl” clothing line.
