Decades
of Madonna memorabilia – including her Material Girl ensemble and Evita
costumes – will go on sale this fall in the largest-ever auction of the
singer’s things.
Julien’s Auctions will sell items from Madonna’s personal and professional life valued at up to $109,000 on November 7 and 8 as part of its Icons & Idols: Rock ‘n Roll auction in Beverly Hills, California.Some of the 56-year-old’s most recognizable pieces will be on view, including the fuchsia Marilyn Monroe-inspired gown, stole and jewelry from her 1985 Material Girl video.
The dress and stole are estimated at $20,000-$40,000.
More than 30 items from Madonna’s wardrobe for 1996’s Evita are also offered, with period clothing and accessories estimated at $800-$6,000.
Other costumes include those from the films A League of Their Own (1992) and The Next Best Thing (2000), and from the videos for Music (2000) and American Pie (2000).
The selection also features more recent pieces such as the latex mask, waspie, gloves, bra and panties Madonna wore in the summer 2014 issue of V Magazine, posing alongside Katy Perry.
A day planner/diary from 1988, estimated at $2,000-$4,000, shows Madonna’s handwritten appointments for dates with then-husband Sean Penn and an appearance on Late Night With David Letterman.
