Madonna is included in the new Guiness World Records Book as Best Selling Female Artist. The book is out this week.
Madonna has sold more than 300 million albums in her
career. Her earnings of $125 m (Ā£82 m) for Jun 2012-Jun 2013 were also
the highest annual earnings ever for a female pop star, drawrfing those
of record holder Celine Dion for 1998 ā $56 m ($80 m, or Ā£49 m, for
today).
Carin Goldberg ā the art director behind Madonnaās debut album cover ā spoke to the Cut about her first experience with the then-unknown pop star. Itās the first question that anybody asks me, even today: What was it like to work with Madonna? People think that maybe something dramatic or interesting or kind of wild might have happened, based on, you know, Madonnaās persona. But I would say that Madonna was probably the easiest job I ever had ā the most cooperation from a recording artist I think I ever had. She was a true professional, even at that young age. It was ā83, and at that point I had my own small design firm. Warner Bros. called and asked me to do her cover as a freelance designer.
